My background is in physical oceanography and I am based in Wellington working for NIWA. I am modelling the ocean around New Zealand and the Southern Ocean and study how they change. High resolution ocean models are my main tool to simulate past, present and future. I use data from those models to track particles, which are being carried by ocean currents, like plastics. That allows me to investigate and identify sources and sinks of plastics in the environment.
